 QR Studio - Offline QR Code Generator & Scanner ("QR Studio", "we", "us", or "our") is designed as a privacy-first, offline-first Chrome Extension. We believe that your personal data belongs strictly to you. This Privacy Policy explains how our extension operates and confirms our commitment to collecting zero personal data.

1. Zero Data Collection & Storage

  • No Server Infrastructure: We do not operate, own, or use any backend servers, external databases, authentication systems, or cloud storage.

  • No Telemetry or Analytics: We do not track, log, or transmit any user behavior, clicks, diagnostics, or scan counts.

  • No Personal Data Collected: We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII), contact information, financial details, location coordinates, or browsing history.

2. Local, On-Device Operations

All operations performed within QR Studio occur locally inside your browser on your device:

  • QR Generation & Customization: All QR code matrix calculations, design rendering, styling, and exports (PNG, SVG, JPG, WebP) run entirely on-device via browser APIs and client-side processing.

  • QR Scanning: Decoding of images or live camera frames is executed locally in your browser. Camera feeds and uploaded image files are processed in real-time memory and never transmitted over the internet.

  • Local Data Storage: Saved QR records, folders, tags, favorites, design templates, and scan history are stored strictly in your browser’s local IndexedDB.

  • Preferences Storage: Local UI preferences (such as Light, Dark, or System theme settings) are stored locally using the Chrome storage.local API.

3. Permissions Used

QR Studio requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function locally:

  • storage: Used exclusively to persist your UI theme preferences and starter categories locally on your device via chrome.storage.local.

The extension does not request broad permissions, does not use <all_urls>, and does not inject background scripts or tracking code into your visited web pages.

4. Third-Party Services & Remote Code

  • No Remote Executable Code: In compliance with Chrome Manifest V3, QR Studio contains no remote code execution (eval(), remote scripts, or external CDN dependencies).

  • No Redirect Servers: Generated QR codes encode direct, static payloads and do not pass through intermediate tracking or redirection services.

5. Data Security

Because all data remains strictly within your browser's sandboxed environment, your data security is tied to your local device and browser security settings. Exporting data via JSON backup or bulk archives downloads directly to your local file system.

6. Children's Privacy

Because QR Studio collects no personal information whatsoever, it does not collect information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we update this policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Any updates will maintain our core architecture of local-only, zero-tracking functionality.
